on the news last night, typhoon glenda's aftermath was shown in the low lying and perenially flood prone area of malabon. a couple was interviewed while rowing on a boat:reporter: "sawa na ba kayo sa baha dito sa lugar inyo?"
couple: "SAWANG-SAWA NA!"
and here's the kicker....they both break out into a smile!
are you still wondering why we're still high on the happiness index?

As we were discussing over lunch a few days ago, it's really funny (in a nice, sweet way) how Pinoys can handle almost any tragedy.
I'm not belittling what happened in New Orleas during Hurricane Katrina, but it just boggled me how some of the locals raped and pillaged during the crisis. I can't help but compare with the behavior of the Pinoys when tragedy strikes.
Is it because tragedy strikes way too often and we've gotten used to it? Or are we just really "oh well towel" happy-go-lucky Pinoys talaga?
